Magnetic Separation Pulleys replace existing head pulleys in belt conveyors. They are used for continuously separating ferrous contaminants from the product flow at the point of discharge.

The radial magnetic field ensures the tramp metal is held and separated from the product as it flows off the end of the conveyor. Can be used stand-alone or in conjunction with a matching Magnetic Take-off Rail which carries the ferrous material further back away from the pulley before release.

Available in a range of sizes to fit your diameter and belt width.

The shaft can be machined to your specification.

Magnetic pulleys always are placed at the head of conveyor belt to separate iron particle, iron scrap, tramp iron and other ferromagnetic objects from more bulk dry material flow such as iron ore, grain, sand, gravel, plastics, wood, waste, cullet, rubber, etc.

Principle of Operation

HSMAG Magnetic Pulleys are widely used as head pulleys in belt conveyors for continuous automatic removal of damaging tramp iron from a variety of materials.

As illustrated in Figure 1, tramp–iron contaminated material comes within the pulley’s magnetic field, the tramp iron is attracted and held to the belt until it reaches the underside, passes out of the magnetic field, and is separately discharged. The cleaned, nonmagnetic material is discharged over the pulley in a normal trajectory.

A stainless steel splitter assembly is required to separate segmented material fractions. An adjustable splitter will permit separation fine tuning and provide optimum separation performance for your application.
