Magnetic head pulley are used in conveyor belts for separating medium-sized ferrous parts from bulk goods. They attract tramp iron from these bulk materials in the same space as the normal conveyor belt head pulley. When the belt separates from the pulley on the return, the ferrous is pulled from the field into a separate pile. For special applications, extremely strong neodymium iron boron may be used.

They provide effective, automatic and continuous removal of tramp metal from a material flow.

As the belt conveyed product travels over the magnetic head pulley, any ferrous metal that is mixed in with the product is attracted and held to the face of the belt and carried to the underside of the pulley. After the metal passes out of the magnetic field, it is released and discharges into a chute or bin for analysis or disposal.Commonly used in industries such as waste recovery, feed & grain and mining, Magnetic Pulleys are available in a wide variety of strengths and standard sizes to fit most belt configurations.

Head Pulley Magnets provide continuous self cleaning on products conveyed by belt. As product is conveyed along the belt it reaches the head pulley and enters the magnetic field where metal contaminants are attracted and held tightly to the belt surface. As the belt is conveyed around the magnetic pulley, metal contaminants are held in place until they pass through the magnetic field where they are safely discarded separate from the clean product. Permanent Magnetic Pulleys

In operation, conveyed material is transported towards the discharge end of a conveyor and into the deep magnetic field of the Magnetic Head Pulley. Disruptive Tramp ferrous metal is attracted and held onto the surface of the moving belt. On the conveyor’s return, the tramp ferrous metal is moved out of the magnetic field, beyond the centre line of the pulley, and falls, under gravity, into a designated collection area. In some installations, a non-magnetic adjustable diverter plate is positioned beneath the pulley to ensure a clean separation of the magnetic and non-magnetic fraction.
