Plastic-bonded magnets
The plastic-bonded magnets represent a transition between the permanent magnets of NdFeB, SmCo and Ferrite types. Their magnetic properties mingle with magnetic properties of the strongest ferrite magnets and the weakest samarium permanent magnets. The plastic-bonded magnets are divided into:

The injected plastic-bonded magnets – used for small and simultaneously complex parts
The pressed plastic-bonded magnets – have a higher remanent flux density

The plastic-bonded magnets contain a magnetic powder based on ferrite, neodymium (NdFeB) or samarium (SmCo) permanent magnets and a bond – usually it is Nylon 6, 12, some of PA (polyamides 6, 11, 12) or PPS (polyphenylene sulfide).

Properties of plastic-bonded magnets
The bonded magnets are suitable for multi-pole magnetization and their temperature resistance reaches the value up to 180°C. The temperature resistance of the plastic-bonded magnets is limited by a bond used. They can be manufactured in isotropic as well as anisotropic qualities and have a high corrosion resistance. If they are used in an atmosphere with a risk of corrosion to be induced in the magnet, we recommend to apply protective coatings – usually epoxy resin. Radial 8-Pole Injection Molded Ferrite Ring for Rotor

Manufacturing of these permanent magnets requires very true-to-size forms ensuring there is no need to further process the magnet, however at the same time they increase costs for the first production batch.
