These magnets are all new, directly from the manufacturer, however, they have been cut from a larger block and it is not unusual for the edges to have chips and nibbles or for there to be patches of discolouration. This does not affect the either the power or performance of the magnets

Ferrite Ceramic Cylindrical Magnets greatly concentrate magnetic fields and radio waves, especially useful at lower frequency. They are easy to use as a directional antenna: just wind turns of wire on the rod and then connect a variable capacitor to tune it up to the desired receive frequency.
Ferrite rods are made up of special ceramic magnetic materials wherein the magnetic molecules (domains) have the ability to align freely with external magnetic fields. The result is a powerful gain in magnetic strength (amplification) of the radio signal but without adding any electronic “hiss” noise. Its almost like a pre-amplifier but requires no external power except for the incoming signals.
These 2.75 inch x 0.380 inch diameter 2300u ferrite rods are great for use at frequencies from DC through 200 KHz.
