Magnetic bead separation system consists of three parts: the magnetic bead, test tube and magnetic bead separation rack. Neodymium magnets will provide the strong enough magnetic field to magnetize superpara magnetic nanoparticles, and thus magnetic bead can be quickly secured. It should be noted that neodymium magnets for magnetic bead separation risk should have superior dimensional, appearance and magnetic performance consistency. Magnetic bead separation technology has gained a series of remarkable research results in molecular biology, cytology, immunology and biochemistry since early 1970s. The targets to be separated can be efficiently enriched by utilizing the combination between surface modified magnetic particles and biomolecule or cell.
Despite their simple construction and lack of moving parts, commercially available immobilization racks are surprisingly expensive. However, they can be assembled easily and cheaply in a laboratory setting. The most critical component of the rack are the magnets themselves- in order to achieve rapid separation, it is best to use high-quality neodymium magnets, N42 grade or above.
