Length tolerance is +/-0.045″, width & channel tolerances are +/- 0.016″ and thickness tolerance is +/-0.005″
6-inch length, 0.875-inch width, 0.750-inch thickness, 0.438-inch channel width
Maximum pull of 45 pounds
Very temperature stable, great for high
heat applications
Maximum working temperature
975° -1020°F
May be ground to size
Does not lend itself to conventional machining (hard & brittle)
High residual induction and energy product compared to ceramic. Low coercive force compared to ceramic and rare earth materials (more subject to demagnetization)
Most common grades of alnico are 5 & 8
Cast Alnico Channel Magnet can be used for various holding applications and also for removal of tramp iron from chutes carrying grains, plastics, glass, minerals & other materials conveyed in powder or granular form.
Alnico channel bar magnets offer high temperature and corrosion resistance as well as greater magnetic pull than ceramic magnets. They are unpainted Gray or Blue in color.
Alnico channels are magnetized as a horseshoe with the South Pole on one side of the channel & the North Pole on the other side.
HSMAG alnico channel magnets are made of cast Alnico 5 material. All dimensions approximate and as cast with pole faces ground smooth. Other sizes are available upon request. Contact us if you don’t see what you’re looking for in this brief listing.
Available Grades of Alnico Magnets:
HSMAG offers both cast and sintered Alnico Magnets in a variety of grades, including Alnico 2, Alnico 5, Alnico 5-7, and Alnico 8. Our large selection of available Alnico magnetic alloys helps achieve the best balance of cost, magnetic performance, and operational temperature resistance for your specific application.
Alnico is a very hard and brittle material and does not lend itself to conventional machining. The HS Magnet employs experienced machinists and the proper equipment to grind alnico to its required dimensions.
Corrosion Resistance:
Alnico magnets exhibit a high degree of corrosion resistance and are typically employed in applications with no coatings or plating.
Temperature Effects:
Alnico magnets offer the best temperature characteristics of any standard production magnet material available. Alnico magnets can be used for continuous duty applications where temperature extremes up to 930°F (500°C) can be expected.
Magnetization Options:
The lower coercive force of Alnico makes magnetizing a simple matter in most cases. In order to optimize the performance of Alnico magnets, it is advisable to magnetize the magnet after assembly with other circuit components.
