Magnetic bases aremostly used in metalworking to hold dial indicators. Beam-Shaped Structure Magnetic Bases are useful tools for setting up workpieces in milling machines, surface grinders, or other machinery. When the base is on, the iron is acts as an extension of the magnet. When it is off, the magnet prevents the magnetic field from extending through the base. The vertical post and rod in the magnetic base connect using swiveling connectors or snugs. This allows free motion of the arm so that the dial indicator can be moved into position on the workpiece.
Primarily for use holding dial gauge indicators, magnetic bases are very versatile in a variety of uses. A range of base and fitment combinations ensures that there is a base in the range for every user and every application. Each unit can be used on flat or curved surfaces (except SM909, which can only be used effectively on flat surfaces). Fitment types include Standard, Fine Adjust, and Flex-Neck.
